It was yet another night of glitz, glamour and suspense. The 13th edition of Miss Kerala was kicked off by 21 lovely contestants walking the r
amp showcasing their best in Indian formal. They paraded the stage donning an array of vibrant saris during the introductory round.
The girls sashayed back in short cocktail dresses for the next round during which 11 were eliminated. The celebrity judges shot some smart questions at the shortlisted ten in the Q&A segment. The queries ranged from ‘how important is learning Malayalam’ to ‘Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli – whom would you date’. Five beauties – Rashmi Nair, Pooja Sasidharan, Binoodha Sasi, Sanika Nambiar and Deepti Sati were qualified and made it to round three.
Button masala, the final round, featured elegant free-flowing Kerala gowns designed by Anuj Sharma. During the last segment the contestants were asked ‘God first created man, thought for a while and then created woman. What he must have thought in between and was he right in his decision to create woman’. The finalists were asked to jot down the answer in 60 seconds and most of them came out with wise and reasonable ones.
Excitement and anticipation trickled in and grew until the names of the winners were announced. 23-year-old Deepti Sati walked away with the crown and a host of other prizes while Sanika Nambiar (18) and Reshmi Nair (20) emerged as first and second runners up. The pageant also had a bunch of sub titles and in between the main sequences were some delightful dance and music performances by Stephan Devassy and Dazzlers.
