Technopark Film festival -‘Qisa 2015’ Registration will end on 31st January 2016

After the impressive editions of Qisa 2012, 2013, 2014 ‘Prathidhwani’ is back with its magnum opus, Qisa 2015. ‘Qisa 2015 – is the short film festival to be conducted for the 4th time in Technopark. The film festival, slated for 2016 February 6th, Saturday in Travancore hall of Park Centre, intends to provide a platform for film-makers and film enthusiasts to explore short cinema. Being a short film festival it is the greatest opportunities for all the techie film makers to show case their works in front of the whole Technopark community.

The movies will be reviewed by a judging panel headed by film critic Sri. M F Thomas, a state award winner for the best book on cinema for “Addorinte chalathira yathrakal” in 2006 and jury panel of national and state award committee, several times. State award winning film Director Sri. Sudevan & Smt K A Beena also will be part of the jury.

Best films and artists will be honoured by exciting cash prizes and mementos by renowned celebrities from the film industry on Qisa festival award ceremony day on 9th February 2016. The best movies will be screened before audience on the same day again and award ceremony will be followed by cultural events.

M.F. Thomas ( Qisa 2015 – Jury Chairman )

Film critic and film society activist. Started as the general secretary of Chithralekha Film Society, the first and foremost film society of Kerala. Acted as the member, jury panels of national and state award committees, several times. Jury member, Indian panorama, twice. Member, selection committee, IFFK, five times. Member, advisory committee, central board of film certification. Chairman, state television award committee. Formerly, administrative council member, Kerala State Chalachithra academy. Vice president, Kerala Children’s Film Society. Acted as the member of several film juries. Published eight books on cinema in malayalam and got the state award for the best book on cinema for “Adoorinte chalachithra yathrakal” in 2006. Retired as the senior sub editor, state institute of languages, Kerala. Academic council member, Malayalam University.

Sudevan ( Qisa 2015 – Jury Member )

Writer/director whose first feature film ‘CR No:89’ bagged several prestigious awards like NETPAC award from IFFK 2013, John Abraham award 2014, Aravindan award 2014, Padmarajan award 2014, Mohanraghavan award 2014 and two Kerala state awards including the best film of the year 2013. Started off his career by directing an ad film about the ‘Ropeway’ Malampuzha and then turned into making several critically acclaimed and award winning short films including Thattumporathappan (lord of the attic), Planning, Randu etc.

K.A. Beena ( Qisa 2015 – Jury Member )

Writer, journalist, columnist presently working as Asst Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ernakulam. 30 years as journalist in various media, authored 20 books. Member, prevention of atrocities against women committee, Government of Kerala , Member, committee to draft women media policy, government of Kerala, National council member and state coordinator, network of women in media, India coordinator, Trivandrum women writer’s forum jury member, Kerala state television awards, government of Kerala jury member, International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) media awards- government of Kerala jury member, Kerala state media awards, government of Kerala jury member, SCERT short film, and documentary awards – government of Kerala. Also served as jury member to many committees For media and literary awards.

Won National and southern region LAADLI media awards for best online writing 2015. Kerala Government honoured with Mahilathilakam award for excellence in media -2011 Rajalakshmi Sahithya Puraskaram 2015 for literary contributions. National award for best script writer (radio documentary) – Government of India awarded honorarium for best news editor in All India Radio (2007) and Doordarshan (2010)
