Kochi-based start up, Eleventh Hour Innovations Private Ltd, has launched ‘Yatra Chef’, which provides rail passengers their favorite menu while on the move. With this, the company feels passengers no longer have to depend on the limited menu of the Indian Railway Catering service.

The company has been set up by three young entrepreneurs, Arun Rajan, Rameez Ashraf and Suchithra Sumadevi.

YatraChef helps passengers to order the food of their choice by logging in to www.yatrachef.com or with the help of a multi-lingual call centre. It has made available a chat centre to assist passengers manually.

For instance, involving train delays, passengers can shift the order to other stations.

After logging in, a passenger has to enter the passenger name record (PNR) or train number, date of journey, followed by clicking the ‘Food’ option to place an order. Customers will have to pay the amount on delivery. The items and the prices is given on the website and no extra payment is needed, says the company.

Arun Rajan, CEO of the company, said it plans to launch online payment service soon.

Eleventh Hour has tied up with a network of 100 hotels, which include restaurants, food plazas, fast food chains and caterers across the country. It plans to expand the network to 300 hotels in the next six months.

“The service points would be increased to 130 rail stations by March 2014, up from the current 100,” said Rameez Ashraf, company’s head of the process.

It also plans to make available a choice of three hotels per station for the customers (including vegetarian), said Ashraf.
