Umman Chandy dedicates futuristic fountain at Technopark

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday dedicated a futuristic and interactive art installation, ‘Future Alliance,’ at Technopark. Allianz Trivandrum put up the structure housing a fountain operating on combined solar and human power to commemorate 10 years of operations at the campus.Image removed. The installation symbolises the solar system, planets of which are represented by bicycles, company spokesman said. Each bicycle is connected to a water jet within the fountain. Five sets of hands in the fountain represent the five oceans atop which nestles a miniature globe. As water is cycled into the fountain, the globe spins. The on-site solar power plant powers on LED lights with automatic timers to light up the structure at night. The space around the fountain can accommodate 200 to 250 people and doubles up as an outdoor venue for meetings and workshops. K. G. Gireesh Babu, chief executive officer, Technopark, said that the installation has added to the pristine surroundings of Technopark. Rakesh Gupta, managing director, Allianz Trivandrum, wished to see this as a follow-up on the Technopark Bicycle Club which the company launched as part of community service last year. Amit Passi, director on board, Allianz Trivandrum, said that the installation was designed entirely by local artisans. “We are proud a certain artistic brilliance has been achieved using local and international design styles,” he added. vinson.kurian@thehindu.co.in
