Major milestones achieved and going strong mentally

As she gently walks up the life street

To successfully achieve many a milestone

One of the very few Indian women still alive

Who saw and remember the Greatest day –

of our Mother India’s Independence

Her biggest achievement I think as a son

Might have been to be an engineer

And how many thousands she taught

Including the nerdy engineer in me

A bit weak physically, but stronger in mind and soul

Her love for dear ones and far away

Care for all in family and around

And nev’r ending quench to give to the needy

We all like to call you Mother Rebbecca

As you turn seventy-six on 16th July 2018

Wishing you a very Happy Birth day

My dear AMMA well in advance

As the world celebrate mother’s day….

A note of gratitude

A note of Gratitude

When the unspeakable departs and the sunshine drifts

When the torment moans out sweet melodies

When fear pleads to faith and hopes

When deface leaves and grace fills in

When whither sheds and emotions bloom

When I hold the hands, which show the light

Who teach me dance to the rhythm of life

who makes me sing the uniqueness in me

And inspires me to live at present

It's an ocean of happiness that he gives

Full of exuberance and vibrancy

And wishful thoughts turn blessings and miracles

Its perfect peace and grace around

Its truth, love and beauty everywhere

No times to sorrow, it’s all joy here

Eyes are full and heart is full...

With no beginning and no end

Undeserving but eternally grateful I am

Knowing and dissolving in HIM

Ah, the Savior smiles at me!

How to rebuild a dream if it shattered and only a few pieces left?

How to define success if it is measured by a scale which you don’t understand?

How to define friendship if your close friend stabs you on your back?

How to live a life if you didn’t find the purpose of it yet?

How to communicate if the people take your emotions but not your intentions?

How to join a stream if it still keep you separate?

How to accept failures even if your head fail to droop down?

How to perceive the truth if few words are twisted and few others are taken out of a sentence?

How to win a battle if there are only a few pawns left on your chess board?

How to rekindle my love though I knew that it is already over?

How to solve a puzzle if all clues are given and the puzzle itself is wrong?

How to reach my home when I keep on finding new ways to be there?

How to find peace if I continue to war with myself?

How to find the answers if I lost my way to the questions itself?

Saga of a poem

Flowing through her veins,

Crimson rusty blood,

Raging with thought of

Dwindling time ahead

Rendering saga of fate,

Her mind spelt silence,

Seeking calm, composed serene

Her blood exuded

With leftover fantasy

Of writing all the lines

Before they fade away

Flowing through her veins,

Crimson rusty blood,

Raging with thought of

Dwindling time ahead

Words lingering on air,

Slipping through the thoughts,

Hope of a fluke

Fades with drowsing mind

The lines to write

Flickers in the mind,

Holding the pen

Still in a quandary

Words begin to shower

Like a ray, a light.

Fate stepped a while

Made way for the ode

Her time now longer,

The world more divine,

Words dripping around,

Like a rain, a storm.

Flowing through her veins,

Crimson rusty blood,

Filled with the liberty

Of words penned down.

An eternal King

LONG LONG AGO

When Eden was closed,

And man was punished,

There appeared a vacuum in him

A huge one, a dark one

Deep inside his heart

Of a shape

A shape which he always failed to define

            He tried to fill it

            With his will and wishes

Land and lives

Heights and hearts

            And yet he failed miserably

The vacuum was large enough

Enough for a child to be born,

An adult to dwell,

And a man to die

            And some day he thought

            Maybe it could be filled

Filled by a powerful man

Sometimes a king

There was a hope,

Hope for a king

A king on the fastest horse

In his finest cloths

With the sharpest sword

Men hoped and waited

So did his children

Kings came, emperor’s came

Still the vacuum was there

On a starry night,

In a manger, the king was born

Born as a child

They saw the child

But never knew

For the Child was too ordinary

The Child was too simple

The Child was not even a prince

            Yet he grew up

Once a man He went after the lives lost instead of lands

He went for the hearts broken not for the heights of the world

He went to meet the prince of death for He was the Life

He never had a sword but had a winnow

He cleared his threshing floor

Gathered His wheat to the granary and

Burned the chaff in unquenchable fire

Yet they never knew who He was

For He was too great to be a king

In fact the greatest of all kings

The only king who came sword less on an Ass

An eternal king from an eternal kingdom

Equals

Do you believe in equality?

I asked Life.

Of course, yes! Life said.

You are lying! Said I.

For, if you truly did,

We would not have been so different.

Do you care for equality?

I asked the World.

Without a doubt! Was the reply.

You are lying! Said I.

For, if you truly did,

Our differences would not have been so stark.

Do you stand for equality?

It was Humanity’s turn.

I am all for it. Came the response.

You are lying! Said I.

For, if you truly did,

We would not be killing our own all the time.

Do you value equality?

God come next.

Why not! I love you all.

Stop lying! Said I.

For, if you truly did,

Bone cancer in infants would have just been a myth.

I do. Boomed loud and clear.

I turned to face the voice.

It was Death who had answered without being asked.

Do you? I had to make sure.

Good or bad; rich or poor; young or old;

When your time comes, I reach out.

Sunset hues

Dropping it to the sea, when it's time to set,

That golden hue from the sky.

I wonder why it has to leave, so early

Stay back, let me enjoy that feel.

That charm, it gave, when about to set,

I could just admire it to full extent,

I wonder, shall I be able to make this mark

When it's time for me to set .

That breeze that sweep my closed eyes,

Chilling water, washing my tied up feet,

I have fell in love with it, that scene,

Which took my soul from me.

Let me go held my hands and sink

Down with it, before it sets, before it sets.

Wait I haven't but made that mark,

Golden mark, which all would love to see

Let me paint it with my brush of love

Let me paint it so as to stay in their hearts

Hold on, let me paint it more beautiful,

Hold on let me mix my colors for sun set hues.

The Deluge

She rested gracefully like a royal maiden

Brightening up the southern tip of peninsula

Guarded by the mighty Ghats of the west

And hugged by the motherly seas of the east

Her children made the earliest of dolmens

In the unwritten history of ancient world

Fragrance of her spices conquered the far west

And seduced the mighty Caesars and Pharaohs

She opened her door to anyone who knocked

Sheltering those who fled their oppressors

Feeding them with her enormous resources

And history called her the god's own country

Centuries passed and the times have changed

And now they say her glory is lost

For her people tied up themselves in golden chains

Made of religions, castes and ideologies

They say her people lost their collective will

And shrunk themselves into their selfish boxes

They say the wisdom of justice and equality

Has been lost from the land for ever

They say her youth is spoiled and reckless

With eyes on screens and minds on virtual worlds

That they divided themselves and fought vain battles

As sanghis,commies,congies and sudappies

But it has been written in the pages of history

And it has been foretold by the sages of yore

That when humans doubt their collective will

They will be put to test, and they will triumph

The skies of August turned hostile

As monsoon clouds prolonged

And the gigantic dams were opened

Lo and behold, the deluge had begun

From the subtle realms of human spirit

A whisper was heard, "we shall overcome"

Slowly, the whisper became a thunder

And the whole land sang "we shall overcome"

Chairs of power woke up from slumber

Men and women forgot their limited existence

Out where they in the streets and flooded homes

Stretching out their hands for each other

Those whom they thought to be lazy tech nerds

Stayed up their midnights and acted with grit

Sanghis,commies,congies and sudappies vanished

As the human spirit prevailed

The Arabian sea sent her industrious children

With bodies and minds trained in the rough seas

Saving lives in hundreds, asking nothing in return

They wrote an epic which will be sung by generations

Armed forces did their bid to the nation

Dutiful as ever in air, land and water

Knowing it was just a matter of time

And this war was sure to be won

And there she rests like a royal maiden

Brightening up the southern tip of peninsula

Knowing her children have passed the big test

And that there is hope for the future

Another Orphan’s Story

I am like a broken ray -

Never knowing to where I belonged.

Like a stream I flow, whispering secrets of my agony,

To the rocks and beds, as I touch and stride!

I am like a lonely cloud -

Wandering in heavy large sky.

Like an island that floats amidst the mist,

Never to be found, never to be loved!

I am like a painful tear -

Running astray; stinging out, from red adorned eyes.

With no arms stretched unto me,

To keep me warm or hunt for my love!

I stand a perpetual stage -

Belonging to none and no stories to unfold.

No memories to keep, nor broken dreams, but a brief silence,

With a heavy laden heart; so cold and torn apart!

I am just another orphan's story -

And I cry, in the vast ocean, sailing through and by,

With unheard voices of mine, to this deaf and dark world.

Here I am, a lonesome little star;

Wishing forever - 'Never to reappear!’

Let my soul rest in peace

When I die,

Do not shed tears for me

Nor say those words you never said.

For if you do,

I will feel like returning to you

And learn, I’ve no way to.

Thereafter,

I will die many deaths

And my soul will not rest in peace.

It will wander in the heaven,

Like it did on earth

Waiting for you. Your love.

Srishti-2022   >>  Poem - English   >>  My last abode

My last abode

This solitary journey seems eternally long;

Don’t know if my exhausted body can stand the test of time,

Oh dear! I wish you heard my melancholy song;

My plead, despair and fear so evident many a time,

Maybe I seem strong on the outside;

But I was dying on the inside

Maybe I seem smiling on the outside;

But I was crying on the inside.

Everyone seems to be totally encaged,

Wrapped up in their own troubles;

Everyone seems to be totally engaged,

Trying to get out of these struggles;

But at times you need to open your eyes,

To notice someone else’s suffering;

Sit with them in the dark and close your eyes,

And be a reason for their recovering.

I had tried numerous means,

And tried to enact all my dreams;

Got involved in unnecessary fights,

And placed myself in dangerous plights;
I had secluded myself from festivities,
Hid and kept away from activities;

Just to get your attention,

That’s what I need, but all in vain!

There were only a few, whom my heart held dear

Who I thought will support me, when I take a fall;

Who I thought will rescue me, from the downfall;

But they weren’t there for me, in my time of fear.

I’m not going to wait for anyone now;

I am going to follow my path somehow;

I know there is no turn now;

And nothing is left to learn now.

Don’t know where;

This decision of mine will take me through,

But I deeply desire;

I be born anew and reach someplace anew,

Where all hands rise;

To solace and comfort me,

Where all eyes;

Laugh to give me my laughter back.

An Ode to Node

Beth I can't hear you calling,

Cuz Im too busy debugging now.

The blinking terminal is screaming

"What have you done dear Moe?"

Why is this working here and not there?

Is the string "production" the cause?

My debugging skills are that of an old bear

The Manager is gonna stab me without a pause.

Friends and colleagues speak words of joy

Use node and code in Javascript

Deadline and bugs are all I see, Ahoy!

For he is forgiving, almighty Javascript

C is faster, better and another dimension

So, is FORTRAN, Assembly and Java

But can you debug in production?

And that is what matters, dear baba

In five hours you'll write that backend

what took you three weeks, no shame!

Drink that cup and make your ascend

That manager won't have you to blame.

Ah! finally, the masterpiece is done

a push to production will remain

Build mighty CI, there should be none

And there it is, victory with champagne

Beth, did you just stop calling?

I'm coming back to bed right now

Just a peek at the log, is what I'm craving

"Why is that undefined, instead of disallow?"

Heaven On Earth

Enjoying a nap a thought crept,

Oh! Is there a real Heaven on Earth,

The gentle majesty that lay above,

Is there a thing so noble here.

I tread myself slow and steady,

Into a land where fantasy sneaked,

Could I ever surmise of such a thing,

That value the heaven in its bliss,

And in a fix, trying to guess,

I set on a hunt in my dreams,

Out on a quest for the crucial thought,

Of who has equaled, the heaven above.

All of a sudden my vision fell,

On the World's never guessed living soul,

And that one image that stands unique,

It is truly our dear MOM!

Imprisoned Periyar

Oh! my Periyar

You were flowing freely on Idukki's Lap

Hills Kuravan and Kurathi pat Periyar in the cradle

Joyful days!!!

To make the place brighten with lights

there came an arch block

How sad it is for you!!!!

You cannot flow freely

You are imprisoned without any deadline

You have knocked the walls for years.

No listeners found,except the sky...

Sky was hearing your pain for years...

Sky could not tolerate the pain you shared with her

sky cried....cried louder.....

shutters opened and you came out with great joy

Even though your ways were blocked,

you didn't find difficulty in making your own way.

You oozed out with your maximum power

and enjoyed the joy of freedom.

The sky became happy and stopped crying.

oh! shutters closed and you are imprisoned again to spread light

oh! my Periyar,

you have sacrificed your freedom to light up the earth...

Sky is hearing your pain.

The yellow leaf tale

Breaking my loneliness blowed a breeze, a soft one

It did spread a fragrance, it did carry a leaf- a yellow one,

It did narrate to me a tale-a tale of its own!

A tale starring the yellow leaf and the cool breeze-

Our hero and heroine!

Our heroine was one among them, among all the leaves-

Tender and green but different!

She was unique and special because she was in love-

In love with our hero….

Every day he would come, blow them all,

All her sisters and brothers-taking no notice of her-

The little greeny in her teen!

She was captivated by the handsome

His fragrance touched not her body

But her soul!

She waited and waited with no regrets

Her heart filling with love, her eyes filling with tears-

For being unknown!

Longing for love she remained so till

Her green pigment disappeared

She started to become pale, but her love as fresh as a dew drop!

And then it happened….she was taken away by her handsome!

Lately the story had a happy ending…

She was realized and was taken away forever

By her sweet heart!

They are still in their never ending journey

Together spreading the cool scent of true love…..

And it did reach me breaking my loneliness

Filling me with the quest to sought my love-

My true love to break my loneliness forever!

The Night

The voice of the wind chimes startled her at the stormy night

The scary ghost stories of childhood multiplied her plight

The rational thoughts of intelligent mind seemed to vanish

Thunder and Lightning seemed like a garnish

Hiding under the blanket she was five again

The logical thoughts gone in vain

The fear of the haunted mind clouded her thoughts

The terrified mind tied her soul in knots

She waited for the storm to seize

And wished for the dawn to bring her peace

Tired eyes seemed to be drooping

As she drifted into sleep weeping
